Edmund Louis Mueller III, father, physicist and nature lover, died May 14, 2007. He was 64. Our dad fought a brief but valiant battle against cancer and advanced liver disease, both diagnosed in late February of that year. He is deeply missed by his wife, ex-wife, five children, two stepchildren, six grandchildren, his sister, extended family, and friends. This is his family's blog. We hope he is reading it wherever he is!

My New Favorite Book
I just now finished reading my new favorite book - Confessions of a Pagan Nun, by Kate Horsley. It is a beautiful story of the life of a druid woman around 500 A.D. when Christianity was introduced to Ireland. The voice in which it was written is poetic, and the story truly makes you think. I am going to re-read it, and then I can pass it around to whomever is interested. If you don't want to wait that long, your library might have it, as the copyright is 2001. Happy reading!

What I'll be remembered for
When I die, I'd like that people say, "That Jill was always quick to smile." Not: "She was a wonderful artist." Or "She was really dependable." Or "That girl had a big heart." I want to be known as a happy person at ease with herself and delighted by life. I'm going to work toward that.
Here are some of my smiles... let me see yours!

This (read the numbers on the left side) was the temperature this morning when Jeff and I woke up--without wind chill factored in--just before I walked to school.
Three bulky layers, snow pants, scarf, hat, and boots: this is what I have started to go through to get ready to walk to school. Add to this a down jacket with hood, and Ninja Jill is ready to fight the Minnesota winter. See, it's not so bad--with cold like this you figure out how to stay warm!
(By the way, I posted a couple of recent works on my art blog. Check them out. I'm now working on a painting for Jeff: The Buddha Loves Baseball. I'll post photos of it in a month or so--I hope to be finished then!)

It's about time
Hello Family! I had a few minutes at the computer while feeding Owen...typing one handed is a long and tedious process. I finally looked at the blog-which I almost never do-and I am sorry that I have missed out on so much and haven't really contributed. I do the same thing with anything having to do with the computer-email, facebook, whatever. I think the idea of this blog just makes me sad. I like to think that Dad's not really gone. It's hard to find time to check in, although now I have to find even more time to catch up on all the reading! Lesson observed. Let's see if I can learn from it!
